BFI announces London Film Festival dates

The 57th edition will unspool Oct. 9 to 20

The 57th BFI London Film Festival will take place Oct. 9 to 20.

The announcement was made Thursday by Clare Stewart, the BFI’s head of exhibition and fest director, who oversaw the event for the first time in 2012.

It repeats the shorter, 12-day run of last year’s fest, down from 2011’s 16 days. However, the number of participating venues and screenings will increase.

The 56th fest screened 227 features and 111 shorts from 57 countries, including 13 world preems.
