Ben Affleck, Christian Bale Give Two Thumbs Up to Batkid: ‘Best Batman Ever’

Ben Affleck, Christian Bale Give Two

Batkid, the 5-year-old cancer patient who has captured the nation’s heart, was cheered on by thousands of San Francisco supporters yesterday but the pint-sized superhero received his highest compliments yet on Saturday from none other than the real Batmen.

Christian Bale and Ben Affleck, Hollywood’s former and upcoming Caped Crusader, called 5 year-old Miles Scott the “Best Batman Ever” and applauded the Make-a-Wish Foundation for making the the little guy’s dream of becoming Batman a reality.

“It’s so touching,” Bale said in an interview with Vulture. “Wasn’t that fantastic?”

“I’ve never been on Twitter,” Bale continued. “But how great a thing that it can create something like that! I mean, wonderful. This little kid, oh my God — what a wonderful day for the little fella! It’s just fantastic, seeing all those people who were out there to support it.”

Affleck later tweeted “Batkid. Best Batman Ever” on Saturday.

Miles, who lives in Tulelake in Northern California, was diagnosed with leukemia when he was 18 months old. He ended treatments in June and his cancer is now in remission.

“Today, November 15, 2013, is Batkid day forever,” San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee told a crowd of supporters outside City Hall on Friday. “You won our hearts with your story … It’s been a day of magic.”

  1. Thankfulness to my father who shared with me about this website, this webpage
    is actually awesome.

  2. Shawn says:

You people crack me up! I made the comment sarcastically only to stir up the crazy comic folks out there and you guyd didn’t disappoint. Barbara is the only person out there that passed, if you will. She gets it! The story is not about the celebs who respond it’s about the story itself, of the kid who had a wish come true.

  3. David Thomas says:

Finally, something good in the world today, instead of hearing a bunch of tragedies & political hogwash.
    Batkid is Epic.

  4. Liz says:

A wonderful story marred by a bunch of dumb asses. GO BATKID!

    • Barbara says:

Thanks to everyone who commented on everything from who gave the best comment to whether Affleck will be a good Batman. I especially like Liz’s comment about dumb a$$e$.
Way to take a beautiful story about an amazing act of kindness (thanks to Make-A-Wish) & taking a Big Dump all over it!
You are all TRULY great humanitarians… Speaks volumes as to our society & webverse!!

  5. tony says:

What nation? Is there only one on the internet?

  6. If I was Ben I would’ve hopped on the first flight to san fran to meet this kid, Ben needs all the good publicity he can get.

  7. brandon says:

look, affleck may not have had a long deep meaningful message but that doesnt mean that it is lack of quality. if batkid saw that he wouldnt think “that’s it?” he would probably think “wow, ben affelck thinks i’m the best batman ever!”

  8. Shawn says:

Bale’s comment was sincere and with a genuine caring and appreciation for the story. Affleck’s, a simply, quick tweet. A little foreshadowing perhaps on the lack of quality Affleck will bring to the Batman role that so many people love. Just saying-

    • theduck0 says:

Or, Mr. Bale’s comments were made to the press, where almost nobody saw them, while Mr. Affleck’s Tweet went out to millions. Or they just chose to communicate in their own way. Also just sayin’.

    • Danny says:

REEEEALLLY? You’re really grasping at straws here… Trying hard to justify hatred and disappointment in something that doesn’t even exist yet.

Calm down, let’s not make problems out of thin air.

    • Phil says:

What a terrible thing to say.. Ben Affleck wasn’t interviewed maybe then he would’ve said more. Don’t judge people so harshly man.

    • jj says:

Yeah, Bale is such a sweet, caring guy. You sound like an amazing judge of character.

      • dcm says:

The idea that someone can’t be both a “sweet, caring guy” and have also fucked up and flown off the handle is pretty damn ridiculous and quite prejudice in and of itself.

    • George says:

Both comments have merit. Affleck tweeted of his own accord, Bale was responding in an interview. Don’t make this a typical petty fanboy battle.
