BAFTA Gives Members Extra Week Vote

Nominations to be announced on January 8

LONDON — BAFTA voters will have an extra week to cast their votes for next year’s British Academy Film Awards.

On Tuesday, BAFTA released its 2014 timetable for the awards, which sees nominations announced next year on January 8, while the ceremony will take place, as previously announced, on February 16.

This year, nominations were announced January 9 and the ceremony was held on February 10.

The upcoming nominations date is more than a week before Oscar nominations, which will be unveiled on January 16.

To be eligible for a BAFTA, a pic must be released theatrically in Blighty between January 1, 2013—December 31, 2013.

Pics released between January 1, 2014 and February 14, 2014 may be “qualified” by being screened for members no later than December 19, 2013.
