Star Sam Worthington mentioned start date during radio interview

Good news “Avatar” fans– it looks like the next installment of the Fox franchise is moving closer to starting up production.

During an interview during an Australian radio show, the pic’s star Sam Worthington said he believes production on the sequel should happen by next October. He also added that most of the script has already been written by director James Cameron and that the recent screenwriting hires were only for polishing purposes.

“We are going to start this time next year and we will do two, three and four,” he told Australia radio station NovaFM.  “In one shot, we’ll do them simultaneously. I’ll be grateful if it finishes.”

Fox recently announced that there would be three, not two, more sequels and that Cameron had hired screenwriters Josh Friedman (“War of the Worlds”), Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver (“Rise of the Planets of the Apes”), and Shane Salerno (“Savages,” “Salinger”) to collaborate with him on the screenplays for “Avatar 2,” “Avatar 3″ and “Avatar 4.”

“I think Jim is building the ship to Pandora, to be honest,” Worthington added.

“Avatar 2” arrives in theaters December, 2016.

Sam Worthington is an idiot. We used to be friends on facebook. He would make posts like “I’m your Australian bad boy” and other eye-rolling posts. All the teeny girls would say “Avatar! Avatar!”, so I posted “Come on, he’s got other movies out”. So, he deleted me. This was before the release of Clash of the Titans, so I wanted to hear about that movie and not Avatar, but whatever. Sam uses whatever stardom he can get. And so it got me thinking that he’s a douchebag that thinks because of the success of Avatar, he thinks he’s this big name mega-star, which every site I’ve come across lists him as one of the worst actors in Hollywood. He looks good onscreen, but his acting consists mainly of blank stares and heartless acting. You might as well just have a cardboard cutout of Sam in the movie, and you’ll get the same performance. I remember the cover of Entertainment Weekly when Clash of the Titans was coming out….it said “With that guy from Avatar”. Really?!? Nobody even knew his name, he was “that guy from Avatar”. His scenes in the movie consisted of mostly blank stares, and the rest was his CG character. If there’s going to be an Avatar 2, 3, and 4, I’m very excited for the upcoming films and will applaud them on opening day, for James Cameron always blows me away with his films. But now when they’re released, I hope I don’t see a lot of worthless egocentric Sam Worthington interviews.

2 and 3 I get but 4 is pushing it Jim.

  3. Vickie Blackwell says:

Can’t wait for it to come out hope its as good or better than the first one

  4. Bella says:

Great can’t wait for the gigantic blue people!!!!

  5. Juan Connor says:

Why do they need Avatar 4? Isn’t 3 crappy movies enough? James Cameron must be trying to create a false religion like the Jedi, so people go into a movie, and come out with his Neo-Marxist Green-Nazi mother Earth crap!

  6. Chris says:

Ha. Worthington is clueless. I know two of the screenwriters and know for a fact they are sitting in a room every day with the other writers and Cameron and breaking each movie together from scratch.
