Asa Butterfield Be Feted CinemaCon

Young thesp will receive confab's rising star award

Asa Butterfield has been tapped to receive CinemaCon’s Rising Star of 2013 kudo to be awarded April 18 in Las Vegas.

Butterfield, who last starred in Martin Scorsese’s “Hugo,” will topline Summit’s adaptation of young adult novel “Ender’s Game” alongside Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin, Ben Kingsley and Harrison Ford. “Ender’s Game” is slated to launch Nov. 1.

“With a stunning turn in the title role of ‘Hugo,’ Butterfield has already proven himself as one to watch in Hollywood,” said CinemaCon managing director Mitch Neuhauser.

CinemaCon, the annual convention of the National Assn. of Theater Owners, runs April 15-18.
