Arts Alliance Brings Royal Opera House to Cinemas

Perfs to stream to more than 1,000 cinemas worldwide

LONDON — European digital cinema company Arts Alliance Media has inked an exclusive deal with the Royal Opera House to distribute live ballets and operas to cinemas worldwide.

Commencing this autumn, the live cinema season will comprise of five live operas and five live ballets. The season opens with “Turnadot” on September 17 and the first live ballet is a new production of “Don Quixote,” choreographed by Carlos Acosta, on October 16.

Further programs will include new opera productions of “Les Vepres Siciliennes” in November, “Parsifal” in December, “Don Giovanni” in February 2014 and “The Winter’s Tale,” a new full-length ballet by Christopher Wheeldon to be staged in April 2014.

Each perf will be streamed live to more than 1,000 cinemas worldwide.

Mr. Wolf, an alternative distribution and production outfit backed by Arts Alliance, will be the exclusive overall partner with the Royal Opera House and will work with Arts Alliance Media to handle worldwide sales and distribution, live transmission of the events from London and global marketing service.

More2Screen will continue to handle sales for U.K. indie exhibs and selected overseas territories.
