Shooting starting in April

Indie comedy “American Ultra,” starring Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg, has picked up traction at the American Film Market with multiple market sales for Asia.

Apsara Distribution, IM Global’s pan-Asian rights buying and distribution division, acquired the film from FilmNation for Hong Kong, Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Vietnam and India.

“Ultra” will re-team Stewart and Eisenberg five years after they starred in Greg Mottola’s “Adventureland.” “Project X” director Nima Nourizadeh is on board to helm from a script by “Chronicle” writer Max Landis.

Eisenberg will portray a stoner who lives in a small town with his girlfriend (Stewart) when his past comes back to haunt him and he becomes the target of a government operation to wipe him out.

Shooting is set to start in April.

Aspara also acquired eight Asian markets for “The Night Comes for Us,” to be directed by Timo Thajhanto and Gareth Evans (“The Raid”) who is also producing and co-writing the film. The deal covers Hong Kong, Thailand, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Vietnam, and Indonesia outside of theatrical, where Evans’ distribution company will take it out theatrically after an impressive $4 million gross theatrical run in Indonesia for “The Raid.”

  3. mm says:

Interesting – Rob makes out with Jessie’s g/f in Map to the Stars so now Jessie makes out with Rob’s ex g/f in this new movie………take that, huh?

  4. Barbie1025 says:

I personally cannot wait for “The Night Comes For Us”, Gareth Evans is underrated here in the US. Not to mention the very talented actors and choreography in his films, not your average action film.

  5. Daisy Duck says:

When they put Kristen with Eisenberg what else could they do. Both actors can sell a film. I hope it turns into a blockbuster and wins everyone with the project a great boost. We miss seeing her out and about. She needs to put herself out there with the rest of the actresses her age. I know she likes the acting and doesn’t like the selling, but you have to do both. you can’t let the fellow cast members down. Just because Robert has forgotten what made him a star, Kristen knows better. Kristen you should be out there with your fellow cast members meeting people. Who cares if Rob is there, they want you.

  6. susan says:

Her temporary “low profile” status will for sure lead again to her next dramatic success <3

  7. susan says:

I long to see her back in the screen, such a professional though shes young.
I feel pitty for people who easily judge others as if they had not sinned. “To sin is human”
