Caruso on board to direct ghost story from a screenplay by Wentworth Miller

Kate Beckinsale is in negotiations to star in indie thriller “The Disappointments Room,” with shooting starting Feb. 3 in Greensboro, N.C.

Foresight Unlimited is handling international sales and will introduce the project to buyers next week at the American Film Market.

Producers are Geyer Kosinski of Media Talent Group and Mark Damon of Foresight. Envision Entertainment, PalmStar Media Capital and Merced Media Partners will co-finance.

“Disturbia” helmer D.J. Caruso is directing from a screenplay by Wentworth Miller.

Beckinsale would portray a mother who moves into a dilapidated country manor near an aging Eastern seaboard town. There in the attic she discovers a small locked door — and the ghost of a young girl beckoning her to open it.

The film will be exec produced by Demarest Films’ Sam Englebardt and Bill Johnson,  Foresight’s Tamara Birkemoe, PalmStar’s Kevin Frakes, Merced Media’s Raj Brinder Singh and Envision’s Remington Chase and Stepan Martirosyan.

Beckinsale was seen in “Total Recall” and “Underworld: Awakening” last year. She is repped by UTA and Media Talent Group. Caruso is repped by Media Talent Group and CAA.
