On the eve of the American Film Market, XLrator Media has acquired North American distribution rights to stoner comedy “Don Peyote,” starring Dan Fogler, Josh Duhamel and Jay Baruchel.

Highland Film Group will be handling international rights during AFM.

The film, which includes appearances by Anne Hathaway and Topher Grace, will be released theatrically in the spring.

Fogler and Michael Canzoniero directed from their own script. Stuart Braunstein, Luke Daniels, Thomas Sullivan and Carlos Velasquez produced with production companies Studio 13 and Tunnel.

Fogler plays an unemployed stoner who finally finds a purpose in life after an unpleasant encounter with a homeless man preaching the end is near. Fueled by vivid apocalyptic dreams, he becomes obsessed with doomsday theories and decides to make a documentary on the subject while his fiance is busy planning their wedding.

The deal was negotiated by Barry Gordon and Mike Radiloff on behalf of XLrator Media and Delphine Perrier and Arianne Fraser of Highland Film Group on behalf of the filmmakers.
