IFC Midnight has acquired all U.S. rights to “Wrong Cops,” the latest left-of-field comedy helmed by Quentin Dupieux.

The French musician-turned-helmer achieved a cult status with his feature debut, “Rubber,” a horror pic of sorts about a car tire on a murder spree.

Wrong Cops,” which debuted at Sundance, is produced by Gregory Bernard at Realitism Films and has played at a flurry of festivals, including Rio, Stockholm, Sitges, Locarno and Deauville.

IFC Midnight, a sister division of IFC Films and Sundance Selects, is prepping a day-and-date (theatrical/VOD/DVD) release on Dec. 20. It will be available on cable, VOD and all major digital platforms including iTunes, Xbox, Sony PlayStation and GooglePlay.

Deal was inked by IFC’s Arianna Bocco and Rubber Films, which exec produced the pic.

The $2.5 million movie chronicles the life of cops behaving badly in a future where crime has all been eradicated. “Wrong Cops” toplines Mark Burnham, Eric Judor, Marilyn Manson, Steve Little, Eric Wareheim and Arden Myrin.

Gallic distrib UFO plans a February release in France.

The original score, created by Dupieux under his pseudo Mr. Oizo, was produced and will be released by acclaimed music labels Because et Ed Banger, at the same time as the film.

Jean Labadie’s Le Pacte is handling international sales on “Wrong Cops” and has already closed Switzerland (Praesens), Russia (A-One Films) and Spain (Zumzeig) ahead of the AFM. Le Pacte will host a market screening at the AFM on Thursday.

Bernard said Realitsm was developing two new feature films with Dupieux.

Realitsm’s slate also includes Julie Bernard’s “Hand Made With Love in France,” a documentary about Gaul’s haute couture business, and “Reality,” Dupieux’s follow-up to “Wrong Cops,” currently in post.

Dupieux’s last film, “Wrong,” was released Stateside by Drafthouse Films.
