Emma Watson, Tessa Farmiga, Paris Hilton star in real-life drama

A24 has acquired domestic rights to Sofia Coppola’s real-life theft drama “The Bling Ring,” starring Emma Watson, and plans to release the heist drama in June.

Movie centers of group of teens from an affluent neighborhood that robbed the homes of celebrities in 2008 and 2009, stealing as much as $3 million worth of jewelry, cash and designer goods from Paris Hilton, Orlando Bloom, Audrina Patridge and Rachel Bilson.

Israel Broussard, Katie Chang, Claire Julien, Taissa Farmiga, Leslie Mann and Gavin Rossdale also star along with Paris Hilton. Script is based on the Vanity Fair article “The Suspects Wore Louboutins” by Nancy Jo Sales.

“Bling” was produced by Roman Coppola, Sofia Coppola and Youree Henley. Exec producers include Emilio Diez Barroso and Darlene Caamano Loquet of Nala Films, which provided finance for the film; Michael Zakin and Francis Ford Coppola for American Zoetrope; and regular Coppola collaborators Fred Roos and Paul Rassam.

A24 launched last summer and announced its first acquistion on Aug. 30 by acquiring all U.S. rights to Roman Coppola’s “A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III.”

Deal for “Bling” was negotiated with A24 by Bart Walker of ICM Partners and Barry Hirsch of Hirsch Wallerstein Hayum Matlof + Fishman on behalf of the filmmakers. Sofia Coppola is repped by ICM and Barry Hirsch.
