Sycamore celebrates ‘Christmas Miracle’

Film unit to produce, finance holiday comedy

Sycamore Pictures has come on board to produce and finance holiday comedy “A Friggin’ Christmas Miracle,” starring Joel McHale and Lauren Graham.

Hyde Park is handling international sales at Berlin. WME Global packaged the film, arranged financing and will represent North American rights.

The film will be produced by Tom Rice of Sycamore Pictures, and Joe and Anthony Russo. Production is set to begin in Atlanta in late March.

Tristram Shapeero, whose TV directing credits include “Community,” “Parks and Recreation,” “Veep,” and “The New Girl,” will be making his feature directorial debut.

“Christmas Miracle,” penend by Phil Johnston (“Wreck-It Ralph”), follows a couple, played by McHale and Graham, as they spend a dreaded Christmas with his father, portrayed by Robin Williams. Upon realizing that he has left all of his son’s gifts at home, McHale’s character hits the road with his father and younger brother in an attempt to make the 8-hour round trip before sunrise.

Sycamore produced “The Way, Way Back,” starring Steve Carell, Toni Collette and Sam Rockwell, which premiered last month at Sundance and was picked up for release this summer by Fox Searchlight.

Williams is repped by WME and MBST. McHale and Shapeero are repped by WME. Graham is repped by ICM, and Johnston is repped by CAA.
