Actress Shohreh Aghdashloo will receive the Noor Iranian Film Festival’s Achievement Award at the Skirball Cultural Center on Oct. 24, the fest’s closing night.
Aghdashloo, who stars in “Silk,” a short film screening during the festival (pictured above), will receive the laurel from former Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences president Hawk Koch, president of the Producers Guild.
The festival, which seeks to educate the non-Iranian community about Iranian culture and heritage, will screen 35 features, documentaries and shorts at Laemmle Music Hall in Beverly Hills from Oct. 18-23. Among the films screening are Mohsen Makhmalbaf’s “The Gardener,” Marjane Setrapi and Vincent Paronnaud’s “Chicken With Plums” and 2013 Cinefondation Award winner “Needle.” Jury members include actor-producer Marshall Manesh, actor-director-producer Dennis Haysbert and Iranian cinematographer Farajallah Heidari. Awards are given for audience favorite, director, story, actor, actress, documentary, animation and short.
