Grindstone nabs Borghese’s thriller ‘Brooklyn’

Recreation acquires international rights

Grindstone Entertainment has acquired North American rights to Paul Borghese’s thriller “Once Upon a Time in Brooklyn” (formerly titled “Goat”), and is planning a release via Lionsgate Home Entertainment.

In a separate deal, international rights have been acquired by Ariel Veneziano’s Recreation sales company.

“Brooklyn” is produced by William DeMeo, Borghese and Robyn K. Bennett and written by DeMeo and Borghese, who also star.

DeMeo is the director; cast includes Armand Assante, Ice-T, Vincent Pastore, Ja Rule and Cathy Moriaty.

“Brooklyn” tells the story of an ex-con out of prison whose family wants him to give up his life of crime, while being pressured by his crew to return to his old ways.

Borghese and DeMeo collaborated on the film “Searching for Bobby D.” His feature credits include “Transamerica,” “Find Me Guilty” and “Julie and Julia.”

DeMeo wrote, directed and produced the feature film “Wannabes.”
