Gordon-Levitt to host Sundance awards

Hyphenate to anchor feature film kudos ceremony on Jan. 26

Sundance Institute has tapped Joseph Gordon-Levitt to host the 2013 Sundance Film Festival feature film awards ceremony on Jan. 26.

Gordon-Levitt has appeared in seven films at Sundance including “Mysterious Skin,” “Brick” and “(500) Days of Summer,” and his directing debut, the short film “Sparks,” premiered at the 2009 fest.

This year, Gordon-Levitt returns as writer, director and star of “Don Jon’s Addiction,” which will screen out of competition. An Artist Trustee of Sundance Institute, Gordon-Levitt’s online production company hitRECord has also had a presence at the fest in recent years.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s accomplished and original artistic perspectives have contributed greatly to Sundance Institute and the independent film community. As host, he is sure to add flair to our awards ceremony in similarly exciting ways, and we are thrilled that he will join us in recognizing outstanding achievements at this year’s festival,” said fest director John Cooper.

The feature film awards ceremony will be live-streamed online from Park City, and awards for short films will be announced at a separate ceremony on Jan. 22.
