Fortissimo takes int’l on ‘Linsanity’

CAA reps U.S. distribution rights

LONDON

Fortissimo Films has taken on all rights outside North America and China to Sundance docu “Linsanity,” about Asian American basketball star Jeremy Lin.

The film, which played at the Sundance Film Festival in January, follows the rise of California-born Lin, an undrafted free agent who barely played in his rookie NBA season, but became a sensation in February 2012 when he was promoted to the starting lineup of the New York Knicks, and led an unexpected winning streak for the team. In the summer of 2012 Lin signed a three-year contract with the Houston Rockets.

Helmed by Evan Jackson Leong, the docu is produced by Christopher C. Chen of Endgame Entertainment, Brian Yang of 408 Films and Allen Lu.

“We began this project with Jeremy several years ago, before Linsanity was a pop culture reference,” said Chen. “To see him persevere through peaks and valleys and ultimately find success at the highest level of professional basketball is something that could not be scripted by a Hollywood screenwriter.”

CAA is representing U.S. distribution rights on behalf of the producers. Fortissimo will commence international sales immediately with screenings scheduled for the Hong Kong Filmart (March 18-21).
