CBS Films enters ‘Toy’s House’

Distrib nabs comedy from first-time helmer Jordan Vogt-Roberts

CBS Films has acquired domestic rights to the coming-of-age comedy “Toy’s House,” which first-time helmer Jordan Vogt-Roberts directed from a screenplay by Chris Galletta.

Pic, which premiered on Saturday at sundance, stars Nick Robinson, Gabriel Basso and Moises Arias as three teenage boys who head into the wilderness with a plan to build a house and live off the land.

Nick Offerman, Megan Mullally, Alison Brie, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Erin Moriarty, Marc Evan Jackson, Thomas Middleditch and Tony Hale co-star.

Tyler Davidson of Low Spark Films, Peter Saraf of Big Beach and John Hodges are the producers with Richard Rothfeld and Vogt-Roberts serving as exec producers.

“While comparisons to movies like ‘Stand By Me’ and ‘The Goonies’ are inevitable, we found ‘Toy’s House’ to be a fresh, funny and heartwarming story that is a loving throwback for a new generation,” said Scott Shooman, who negotiated the deal on behalf of CBS Films with John Sloss of Cinetic Media, which repped the filmmakers.
