Blumhouse joins ‘Peachfuzz’

Company to partner on Duplass horror outing

Blumhouse Prods., the production company behind pics “Paranormal Activity” and the upcoming “Dark Skies,” has acquired distribution rights to “Peachfuzz,” a found-footage horror film produced by Mark and Jay Duplass.

Blumhouse will serve as a partner on the film, collaborating with the Duplass brothers on the pic itself as well as having a hand in distribution and marketing.

Mark Duplass, who with his brother has made pics including “Jeff, Who Lives At Home” and “The Puffy Chair,” stars in the movie and co-wrote it with Patrick Brice, who helms. Storyline, details of which are being kept quiet, centers on a guy who answers a Craigslist ad and ends up in a situation he never expected.

Deal for the film was pacted by Submarine’s Josh Braun, also an exec producer on the film. Exact distribution details are still to come.

Up next for Blumhouse is “Dark Skies,” Scott Stewart’s Keri Russell starrer that Dimension will release Feb. 22.
