'7th Floor' Producer Boards Gugliotta's Thriller

Argentine thesp Pablo Echarri stars in Cepa Audiovisual's follow-up to Ricardo Darin's most recent B.O. hit

Cepa Audiovisual, a co-producer of Ricardo Darin pic “7th Floor,” a B.O. hit in Argentina and Spain picked up by Fox in North America, is joining forces with Argentine helmer-producer Sandra Gugliotta in thriller “Arrebato” (Rapture).

Argentina’s Pablo Echarri (“A Matter of Principles”), Monica Antonopulos (“Easy Sex, Sad Movies”) and Leticia Bredice (“Tetro”) topline “Rapture’s” cast.

Echarri will play Luis Vega, a writer and philosophy teacher caught in a love triangle with two women – played by Antonopulos and Bredice – ending with a murder that pretty well resembles the one described in Vega’s last novel.

Pic will roll from mid-January to March in downtown Buenos Aires.

“Behind the writing of the novel and the crime lies a story of passion, jealousy and tortured relationship,” said producer Andres Longares at Buenos Aires-based Cepa Audiovisual.

“Rapture” marks Sandra Gugliotta’s first incursion into genre after directing drama “A Lucky Day” and mystery-romance pic “Possible Lives.” Gugliotta produces through her Buenos Aires’ prodco Ojoblindado.

Indie distribbery Distribution Company has secured Argentina’s distribution rights.

Andres Longares, a Spanish film exec that previously worked at Sony Pictures Entertainment in Spain, launched Cepa Audiovisual in 2005, teaming with partner Felicitas Raffo, to produce TV fiction, documentaries and feature films.

Cepa’s most recent credits include Diego Araujo’s coming-on-age tale “Holiday,” a Ventana Sur 2013 Primer Corte competitor, co-produced with Ecuador’s Luna Films and Abaca Films, which Berlin-based company M-Appeal has just acquired for international sales.

Andres Habegger’s documentary “The (Im) Possible Oblivion,” a Cepa co-production with Brazil and Mexico, is one of the ten projects selected for pitching at the 13th DocBuenosAires Documentary Co-production Forum, set up at Ventana Sur.
