Denis Villeneuve's 'Prisoners' to play at both festivals

LONDON — Hugh Jackman is to be feted with lifetime achievement awards at two leading European film festivals next month.

San Sebastian will present its Donostia Award to the Australian thesp on Sept. 27 prior to the screening of his latest pic, Denis Villeneuve’s thriller “Prisoners.”

Zurich will honor Jackman with the Golden Icon Award on Sept. 28. He will also present “Prisoners,” which screens in the Gala Premieres section of the festival.

The Warner Bros. film, which also stars Jake Gyllenhaal, centers on Keller Dover (Jackman) as he faces every parent’s worst nightmare: his 6-year-old daughter, Anna, goes missing, together with her young friend, Joy. When the police investigation stalls, the frantic Dover decides to take matters into his own hands.
