The Cold War-set thriller is shooting in Scandinavia and the U.S.

Tine Klint’s LevelK has snapped up international sales rights to Christina Rosendahl’s “The Idealist,” a Cold War-set political thriller.

One of the most ambitious Nordic pics skedded for a 2014 release, “The Idealist” toplines local stars, Soren Malling (“A Hijacking”), Peter Plaugborg (“Borgen”) Thomas Bo Larsen (“The Hunt”).

Lars K. Andersen (“Flame and Citron”), Simon Pasternak and Rosendahl penned the script which revolves around a nuclear disaster that erupts during the Cold War, and its subsequent international cover-up.  Pic will follow an everyday man who fights to break the silence and unveil the truth.

Jonas Frederiksen (“The Hunt”) and Signe Leick Jensen (“Superclasico”) are producing via their Copenhagen-based outfit Toolbox Film. Pic is backed by the Danish Film Institute, pubcaster DR, Nordic Film & TV Fond and The MEDIA Program.

Lensing began in Denmark and will go on to lense in Sweden and the U.S..

SF Film will release “The Idealist” in the Nordics (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden) on Aug. 18.

LevelK – a sales company launched by former TrustNordisk exec Tine Klint back in 2011 — will start shopping the film at TIFF (Toronto Intl. Film Festival), which kicks off Sept. 5.
