PARIS– Brooklyn-based Big World Pictures has acquired Martin Lund’s critically-acclaimed debut “The Almost Man” for U.S. distribution.

Repped by LevelK, “The Almost Man” bowed at Karlovy Vary last year, winning a Crystal Globe award and a best actor nod for lead thesp Henrik Rafaelsen (“Happy Happy”).

Big World Pictures is prepping to release “The Almost Man” in the fall. It will be the first theatrical release handled by the newly-launched company. Shingle plans on releasing 3 to 4 films in theater every year.

“The Almost Man” is one of the finest—and most enjoyable—films I’ve seen in the past year,” said Big World’s Jonathan Howell. “We’re proud to have it leading the inaugural slate for Big World Pictures.”

Penned and directed by Lund, the Norwegian drama stars Rafaelsen as a 35-year-old man facing the birth of his first child and feeling the pressure to finally become a responsible adult.

“Man” was produced by Ruben Thorkildsen at Ape & Bjorn, with backing from the Norwegian Film Institute and Shortcut Norway.
