AFM: Global Screen Picks Up 'Trenk,

LONDON — Global Screen has picked up world-wide distribution rights to animated feature pic “Trenk, The Little Knight.” The sales company will show first images from the pic at AFM.

The family entertainment film is based on the eponymous children’s books by Kirsten Boie, and the TV series, which has been distribbed worldwide.

The adventure pic centers on a peasant boy, Trenk, who dreams of being a knight. With the help of his friends — a piglet, young lady Thekla and juggler boy Momme Mumm — Trenk overcomes the odds and defeats a dragon to free his family from the rule of a wicked feudal lord.

“ ‘Trenk, The Little Knight’ is a thrilling adventure with knights, castles, duels and dragons, told with lots of humor,” said Julia Weber, head of sales at Global Screen. “None of the conflicts Trenk has to overcome will be solved with violence, but with brain over brawn. The surprising twists and turns will make audiences cheer with joy.”

The German-Austrian production is lead-produced by Corinna Mehner of Blue Eyes Fiction, which made “Lilly the Witch.”

WunderWerk, Dor Film, Universum Film and ZDF are co-producing. Universum will distribute the pic in Germany and Austria. Delivery is set for autumn 2015.
