Kino Lorber sweet on ‘Honey’

Film unit nabs rights to Markus Imhoof's documentary

Kino Lorber has acquired U.S. rights to Markus Imhoof’s documentary “More than Honey,” which will make its U.S. premiere this week at the Palm Springs Film Festival.

Kino Lorber expects to open the film across the U.S. in the late winter and early spring.

“Honey” has played at festivals in Toronto, IDFA and Locarno, were it was the closing-night title.

Movie is a examination of endangered honeybees in California, Switzerland, China and Australia. Imhoof photographed agricultural landscapes where bees do their work, as well as the microscopic honeycombs where they live. The precise cause of global colony collapse remains unclear.

Kino Lorber’s CEO Richard Lorber negotiated the deal with Jean-Christophe Simon, head of Berlin-based Films Boutique.
