I didn’t need “Parks and Recreation” showrunner Michael Schur to tell me that upcoming author Amy Poehler has become the most underappreciated TV performer in awards country, but he sure sums up the problem concisely in this tweet above.

I was thinking about it this morning and had a passing thought: If Hillary Clinton had topped Barack Obama in the 2008 Democratic primaries and gone on to become president – perhaps more evenly matching Sarah Palin (and Tina Fey’s imitation of her) penetrating the national consciousness – would Poehler’s status as the nation’s leading Hillary impersonator given her the attention she needed for her great work on “Parks” to then be justifiably rewarded?

Maybe, maybe not. After all, it’s not like Fey wasn’t being recognized before Palin came around. Either way, let Sunday’s SAG Awards be the last awards show that overlooks Poehler.
