The Oscars' celebration of James Bond has added a key component: Shirley Bassey.
The chanteuse of songs from "Goldfinger," "Diamonds Are Forever" and "Moonraker" will make her first appearance on the Oscar stage.
Bassey joins previously announced Oscar performers Adele, Norah Jones and Barbra Streisand (who just signed a deal to resume her directing career), as well as Robert Downey Jr., Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Jean Dujardin, Christopher Plummer, Octavia Spencer, Meryl Streep, Mark Wahlberg (and "Ted" co-star Ted), Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Daniel Radcliffe, Channing Tatum and Charlize Theron.
AMPAS also announced that William Ross will conduct the Oscar orchestra. Ross previously handled the 79th and 83rd Academy Awards. He has written original scores for such films as "The Tale of Despereaux," "Ladder 49," "Tuck Everlasting" and "My Dog Skip," and also adapted and conducted the score to "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets."
