Michael Haneke to Receive Lifetime Honor From Zurich

Fest will host retrospective that includes 'Amour'

The Zurich Film Festival will honor “Amour” director Michael Haneke with its lifetime achievement award.

The helmer will attend the festival, which runs Sept. 26-Oct. 5 in Switzerland, to accept the kudo on Oct. 5. Five of his films — “Cache,” “White Ribbon,”  “The Piano Teacher” and “Funny Games” — will unspool as part of a retrospective on his work.

Haneke’s “Amour” won the 2012 foreign-language film Oscar and was nominated for best picture.

Zurich’s previous honorees in recent years include Tom Tykwer, Jafar Panahi and Roman Polanski.
