Greg Clayman, head of News Corp.’s digital strategy, is joining Internet video company Vimeo as general manager of audience networks, overseeing its premium on demand business, Vimeo said Friday.

At News Corp., Clayman oversaw the launch and operations of the company’s iPad news publication, The Daily, which was shut down in December of last year.

Before joining News Corp. in 2010, he was MTV Networks’ exec VP of digital distribution and business development, where he reached Viacom’s first licensing deals with Netflix, Hulu and other digital distributors.

New York-based Vimeo, founded in 2004, is owned by Barry Diller’s IAC.

Clayman will head up Vimeo on Demand, which now has more than 2,000 titles after launching in March. The service lets content owners set the price, format and geographic availability of their video.

“Vimeo now reaches a global audience of over 100 million monthly video viewers, and Greg’s tremendous experience and expertise across online and mobile video distribution, subscription products and advertiser partnerships will be instrumental as we grow our business and a deliver unique experience for our audience,” Vimeo CEO Kerry Trainor said in a statement.

Clayman said in a statement, “Vimeo has always been known for its quality user experience and unique content from creators around the world,” adding that he’s “thrilled” to be joining the company.
