Chang moves up to become VP-g.m. of home entertainment division
HBO home entertainment president Henry McGee is retiring after a 34-year run at the pay cabler and will become a full-time faculty member at Harvard Business School.
Moving up the ranks in the division at HBO will be Sofia Chang, whose new title will be exec VP-g.m. of home entertainment. Chang will report to Simon Sutton, president of HBO Intl. and content distribution.
“Henry McGee represents the very best of what HBO has to offer when it comes to leadership, collaboration and innovation,” said prexy-COO Eric Kessler. “He is one of the most well-regarded people working in the home entertainment industry today.”
Initiatives implemented under McGee’s watch at HBO include Blu-ray high-definition discs, digital downloads and international expansion for the division to oversee titles that were distributed to more than 70 countries.
Chang, who joined HBO in 2000, was named senior VP of program strategy and planning in March. During her time at the network, she has overseen the marketing of several DVD titles including “The Sopranos.”
