Lights, camera, Google Glass!
Google announced Tuesday that its buzzed-about high-tech specs will be made available in a select group of film and design schools this fall in order to spur innovation in production. “We’re really interested to find out how Glass will contribute to the craft of storytelling, specifically through film,” the company said in a blog post issued this morning on Google+.
Participating schools at launch include The American Film Institute (AFI), California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), UCLA School of Theater, Film, and Television, and the University of Southern California; more are expected to join that list.
Each of the five schools will get three sets of glasses. Known as Glass Creative Collective, the partnership entails the schools submitting “proposals considering how a first-person POV, hands-free communication, and the potential for new narratives will change the way we capture and tell stories through Glass.”
