Online movie ticketing site sees 57% rise in sales

Online movie ticketing site Fandango had its biggest year in 2012, posting a stellar 57% uptick in year-over-year tickets sales, as well as significant growth in monthly visits to its online and mobile platforms.

Last year, Fandango greatly increased its exhibition footprint by inking expanded deals with top theater chains, including AMC and Regal.

“Our 2012 successes have further established Fandango as the go-to resource for the total moviegoing experience — from discovery, decision-making and ticketing, to going to the theater and sharing with friends after the credits roll,” said Fandango prexy Paul Yanover.

Mobile ticket sales accounted for 30% of the company’s total ducats sold last year, representing a whopping 171% year-over-year increase.

Also, Fandango ramped up its original content, which included a digital vid series hosted by awards pundit Dave Karger. The company plans to launch two more Karger-hosted series this year.
