Short-form series produced by Tribeca Digital Studios features thesps including Jessica Alba, Rainn Wilson, Olivia Wilde and Jared Leto
AOL this week debuts “Acting Disruptive,” an original online series taking a look at new-media ventures of actors-cum-entrepreneurs and others including Jessica Alba, Rainn Wilson, Olivia Wilde and Jared Leto.
Tribeca Enterprises’ Tribeca Digital Studios is producing “Acting Disruptive,” its first online series, for AOL. The first six episodes of the 12-part series, hosted by former Current TV presenter Max Lugavere, are slated to debut Tuesday at ActingDisruptive.com. Citi is the presenting sponsor of “Acting Disruptive.”
In the six- to eight-minute segments, Lugavere interviews multihyphenates about their startup projects. AOL announced plans for “Acting Disruptive” at the Digital Content NewFronts event this spring in New York.
The first six subjects are Rainn Wilson, who has launched YouTube comedy channel SoulPancake; Jessica Alba, co-founder of the Honest Company, an e-commerce site that sells eco-friendly baby and household products; Jared Leto, frontman of 30 Seconds to Mars and founder of live-streaming service VyRT; Felicity Huffman, founder of mom blog site WhatTheFlicka; Adrian Grenier, co-founder of environmentally sustainable lifestyle website SHFT.com; and Adam Goldberg (pictured, above right, with Lugavere), who discusses his Vine video projects.
The next half-dozen episodes are slated to feature subjects including Seth Green, an investor in video-streaming startup Shodogg; Moby, whose mobygratis provides a resource for filmmakers who need royalty-free music; and Olivia Wilde, who is on the advisory board of online-news startup RYOT.
Entrepreneurs “are the new rock stars,” Lugavere said. “Together with Tribeca we have been able to get the thought leaders in this space to open up their doors to everyone.”
