Cablevision Expands Kristin Dolan's Role

Cable op rejiggers senior ranks to ‘streamline’ decision-making process

Cablevision Systems elevated Kristin Dolan, wife of president and CEO James Dolan, to Optimum Services president and announced two other senior management changes intended to “streamline” decision-making process.

In the new role, Kristin Dolan will oversee the New York-area cableco’s entire Optimum customer experience and brand positioning, as well as the company’s sales initiatives related to cable TV, high-speed Internet and voice products.  Previously she was senior executive veep of product management, marketing and development.

Cablevision, based in Bethpage, N.Y., suffered a string of senior-level defections about a  year and half ago, with COO Tom Rutledge (now Charter Communications topper) most notable. The operator faces fierce competition from Verizon FiOS in the New York metro area.

In other changes, Cablevision named Wilt Hildenbrand senior advisor for customer care, technology and networks. Hildenbrand, a longtime Cablevision hand, will continue to head technology strategy and network architecture, and also will oversee customer service and field service organizations.

Company also appointed Brian Sweeney as senior executive VP of strategy, a newly created position. Additionally, he will serve as “chief of staff” to James Dolan.

All three execs report to James Dolan.
