PR vet will be in charge of corporate communications

Univision has tapped Monica Talan exec VP of corporate communications and PR, the Spanish-language broadcaster announced Wednesday.

Talan, who will be based in New York, reports to topper Randy Falco. She was previously senior VP in charge of corporate communications and PR. Before joining Univision in 2008, Talan was at Fleishman-Hillard for more than 10 years, leaving as senior veepee/partner.

“At Univision, it is a top priority for us to effectively communicate our story and position of strength in the media landscape, as well as to shine a light on the immense power of the U.S. Hispanic community,” said Falco.  “As the company continues its evolution as one of the most diverse, innovative and influential multiplatform media companies in the country, I am confident that Monica and her team will leverage their exceptional strategic communications and brand building capabilities to benefit Univision and all of our constituencies.”

Talan said: “We take very seriously our responsibility to effectively communicate our mission, goals and strategies – as well as to advocate for Hispanic Americans – both within the company and to our many external audiences. We have a compelling story to tell, and I am committed to continuing to set Univision apart and build the profile of this trailblazing organization.”
