After 14 years of marriage, media kingpin Rupert Murdoch and his third wife, Wendi Deng Murdoch, took less than 15 minutes to take the final steps toward a divorce Wednesday, both agreeing to dispense with a trial and proceed to a settlement.
Terms were not disclosed in a small hearing room in New York State Supreme Court. The couple now has 60 days to complete the terms to which they’ve agreed.
Both Wendi Deng Murdoch, dressed in a forest green coat and carrying a leopard-print clutch, and Rupert Murdoch, dressed in a charcoal gray suit and wearing a dark red tie, answered brief questions from Judge Ellen Gesmer about their willingness to forego a trial. Both remained composed, displaying little emotion.
When the hearing was completed, Mrs. Murdoch gave her husband a peck on the cheek as they briefly clasped hands.
