News Corp. chairman talks sale, says Disney 'wavered' in sale
Hulu may have gotten pulled off the block Friday morning, but its owners have expressed confidence that the streaming site can become an even stronger asset.
“I think it’s a hell of a good business – or it can be,” said News Corp. chairman Rupert Murdoch. Murdoch was lounging in the Sun Valley Lodge, which is playing host to a number of moguls this week during the Allen & Co. conference.
Murdoch said Hulu’s partners needed to get on the “same page” with regards to Hulu, and that Disney “wavered.” But eventually, all three announced they would keep the company on Friday morning.
News Corp., Comcast an Disney are all joint owners of Hulu, and all three companies had top execs in Idaho this week. Disney’s Bob Iger pulled News Corp.’s Chase Carey aside to chat before dinner on Tuesday amidst much chatter about the fate of the streaming service.
