Rich Peluso Upped to Senior Veep of Affirm Films (EXCLUSIVE)

Sony's faith-based Affirm Films also promotes Tana Evans

Rich Peluso has been upped to senior vice president of Sony’s Affirm Films after four years at the faith-based label.

Sony launched Affirm in 2007 with the mission of distributing inspirational and faith-based films, and has since released movies such as 2011’s biographical “Soul Surfer” and police drama “Courageous.”

Peluso joined the division in 2009 as VP and is credited with contributing to both “Soul Surfer” and “Courageous,” as well as upcoming releases, such as 2014’s “Moms’ Night Out” and  “The Remaining.” He will continue to report to Steven Bersch, president of Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions, who made the announcement.

Peluso’s duties will mirror those in his previous role, which include overseeing development and marketing of Affirm’s films. The label’s productions range from high to low budget and are created for theaters, television and otherwise.

Peluso has had experience with other religious entertainment in the past, having worked at EMI Christian Music Group for 15 years. He also ran kid entertainment shingle the Safe Side Co.

Tana Evans, vice president of distribution of Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions, will add on the role of VP of marketing and distribution for Affirm.
