‘Ray Donovan’ Producer Bryan Zuriff Sentenced to Six Months of Home Confinement

Bryan Zuriff, former executive producer of Showtime’s “Ray Donovan,” has been sentenced to six months home confinement and two years of probation for illegal Internet gambling, as he was arrested earlier this year along with dozens of others as part of an FBI bust of an international gambling ring.

He’s also been sentenced to perform 300 hours of community service.

Zuriff’s attorneys had argued for probation, arguing that he was unaware of links that the gambling ring allegedly had to Russian-American organized crime.

“We were pleased with the sentence,” said one of his attorneys, Charles Clayman. “From the beginning we had made it clear that Mr. Zuriff was not involved with organized crime or an international gambling ring. He is now prepared to continue his life as a producer of excellent TV shows and movies.”

Although Zuriff stepped down from the show during the summer, he has been serving as a consultant.

Federal prosecutors had recommended that Zuriff receive a sentence of 6 to 12 months in prison, within the range of sentencing guidelines.

In July, Zuriff pled guilty to acceptance of financial instruments for unlawful Internet gambling, and agreed to pay a $500,000 fine as part of the plea deal.

Clayman and another of Zuriff’s attorneys, Isabelle Kirshner, had argued to U.S. District Judge Jesse Furman that the “interests of justice” do not require that he be sentenced within the sentencing guideline range of six to 12 months.
