NBC, CBS Misidentify Navy Shooting Suspect

NBC and CBS were forced to retract earlier reports about the identity of the shooter responsible for the deaths of 12 people at the Navy Yard in Washington on Monday.

Both networks identified the same man as the shooter, Rollie Chance, and then had to correct those reports.

NBC News’ Chief White House Correspondent Chuck Todd said the early confusion was caused by an I.D. card found near the body of the shooter.
