Bosnian helmer Danis Tanovic, whose 2001 debut “No Man’s Land” won the script prize at Cannes and the foreign-language Oscar, has been tapped as competition jury prexy at the Sarajevo Film Festival, the Balkan region’s largest sprocket opera.

Tanovic’s “An Episode in the Life of an Iron Picker,” which won Silver Bears for film and actor Nazif Mujic at this year’s Berlinale, will open Sarajevo on Aug. 16; event wraps Aug. 24.

The deadline for submissions for the fest program is May 31.
