The deals were unveiled on the eve of the Asia television Forum and ScreenSingapore conventions in Singapore.
Viki will exclusively broadcast the “Taipei 101 New Year’s Eve Countdown” live to the rest of the world. And the company renewed an agreement with Sanli to carry all of its on-air dramas on Viki in 2014.
“Chinese and Taiwanese shows are fast becoming one of the most popular content genres on Viki,” said CEO and co-founder Razmig Hovaghimian. “While over 30% of the viewing audience for these shows comes from North America, we know this content has global appeal, with top shows being translated into over 40 languages.”
Viki already broadcasts period dramas and online series from leading Chinese broadcasters Huace TV and LeTV.
