Germany’s foreign-language Oscar contender “Two Lives” was acquired by multiple distributors in the first days of AFM.
Starring Liv Ullmann and Juliane Koehler, the secrecy-themed drama (pictured) was licensed by German’s Beta Cinema to CDI Films for Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay; to Strada Films for Greece; and to Swallow Wings for Taiwan. Prior to the market the pic was acquired by Sundance Select for the U.S.
The Hungarian Oscar hopeful “Le grand cahier” was licensed by Beta for Sweden and Denmark to Njuta Films; for Portugal to Films4You; to Taiwan by Catchplay; and for South Korea by Sponge.
“Still Life,” which earned Uberto Pasolini the directing prize in the Orizzonti section of the Venice festival this year, was licensed for France to Version Originale/Condor; for Sweden to Folkets Bio; for Norway to Arthaus; for Greece to Feelgood Entertainment; for Switzerland to Filmcoopi; and for South Korea to Dreamwest Pictures.
Handling another festival winner, Beta also sold Argentina rights on Berlinale winner “Child’s Pose,” directed by Calin Peter Netzer, to Alfa Films. Beta reports that the title is now sold out.
