The sports divisions of Yahoo and NBC are aligning for both newsgathering and programming.
Reporters employed by Yahoo Sports, including Dan Wetzel and Adrian Wojnarowski, will team with on-air Peacock talent, such as Bob Costas and Mike Florio, to work on major stories. The website and the network will, however, retain separate newsrooms and control of their own digital properties.
Original Web programming will be created to run on Yahoo.com and NBCSports.com.
As part of the deal, Yahoo will now link to and promote select events being live streamed on NBCSports.com, including “Sunday Night Football” and the “NHL Game of the Week,” as soon as the league returns to the ice at the conclusion of the current labor stalemate.
The sales divisions of Yahoo and NBC will work in unison to give ad clients package deals on both digital and television.
