Cabler eyes professional, personal life of pop star Lauper
Femme-friendly cabler WE is bringing Cyndi Lauper to its programming mix, as well as former E! star Kendra Wilkinson-Baskett.
From Mark Burnett’s One Three shingle, Docuseries “Cyndi” will focus on Lauper’s personal and professional career. Net has ordered 12 half-hour episodes, with production scheduled to begin next month in New York. Debut is set for summer.
Lauper was an influential singer-songwriter in the 1980s and had five No. 1 hits, including “Time After Time” and “Girls Just Want to Have Fun.” She and Burnett will exec produce with Annabelle McDonald.
Also arriving from WE is “Kendra on Top,” from Prometheus Entertainment. Show, which stars Wilkinson-Baskett, will focus on her family life and ambitions.
Cabler has ordered 14 episodes, with production set to begin in L.A. over the next week. Kevin Burns and Suzanne Gladstone exec produce.
