Dramedy has been a mainstay at cabler since 2006 debut

USA Network sees more “Psych” in its future.

Although the seventh season won’t begin until Feb. 27, the NBCUniversal cabler has enough faith in the series to give it an order for an eighth season. Show, which averaged 4.5 million viewers in season six, has been a dramedy mainstay for USA since its premiere in 2006.

Eight episodes have been ordered.

From Universal Cable Prods., “Psych” stars James Roday as a faux psychic, with Dule Hill as his sidekick. Corbin Bernsen, Timothy Omundson, Maggie Lawson and Kirsten Nelson also star.

Creator Steve Franks exec produces with Kelly Kulchak, Chris Henze and Mel Damski, who also serves as director.
