CANNES — Gaul’s Upside Television has inked a raft of deals on “Through Your Eyes” a travel docu series hosted by blind journalist Sophie Massieu.Commissioned by Franco-German net Arte, the show’s first season, which comprises 40 half-hours, follows Massieu as she travels to Israel, India and China, with her seeing eye dog. It was picked up by Al Jazeera (Middle East), Spain (Catalunya TV), TRT (Turkey), Poland (Planete), Morocco (Medi1) and Slovakia (SRTV). Previous sales included RAI (Italy), Evasion (Canada) and MTVA (Hungary), which also acquired the second season that’s now in pre-production. Christophe Bochnacki, Upside Television’s head of acquisition and sales, announced the deals at a panel presentation hosted by Reed Midem on Monday at MipTV. Bochnacki revealed the format for “Through Your Eyes” had been acquired by Spain’s Joan Ubeda, managing director of Mediapro-owned production company Media 3.14. Ubeda told Variety, “What drew me to this documentary series is the concept and the way it’s put together — it’s very well-polished.
