Thieriot checks in at ‘Bates Motel’

Thesp will play Dylan Bates in upcoming A&E series

Max Thieriot has been tabbed to play the role of Dylan Bates on upcoming A&E drama series “Bates Motel.”

Actor, who is co-starring in the upcoming Jennifer Lawrence pic “House at the End of the Street,” has mostly appeared in feature films, including “The Family Tree” last year.

British thesp Freddie Highmore was recently cast as Dylan’s brother, Norman Bates. Norma Bates will be played by veteran actress Vera Farmiga.

“Psycho” prequel “Bates Motel,” set to debut in 2013, is from exec producers Kerry Ehrin and “Lost” vet Carlton Cuse. Show will examine the relationship between Norman, Dylan and their mother.

A&E opted to pass on a pilot when it made a series order earlier this year.

Jeff Sneider contributed to this story.
