MEXICO CITY — The world’s largest producer of Spanish-language TV content Televisa is sending one of its own, Alberto Ciurana, to take over programming and content at Univision.
Ciurana makes the move after working as VP of programming for Televisa for 15 years and takes over a major vacancy at America’s largest Spanish-language network following the abrupt departure of Ronald Day on May 8, a week before the upfronts.
Ciurana heads to Univision amid a steady expansion of Televisa influence at Univision building on the partnership struck with the U.S. web in October 2010.
In an announcement Wednesday, Televisa noted Ciurana’s experience and stressed he was chosen to strengthen the ties of communication between Univision and the Mexican conglom.
