Swicord elected to Academy board

Screenwriter succeeds Pierson as governor

Robin Swicord has been elected to the AMPAS Board of Governors, representing the writers branch.

Swicord succeeds Frank Pierson, who passed away in July, and joins current branch governors Bill Condon and Phil Robinson. Swicord will serve until the next regularly scheduled election of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences board in June.

The screenwriter shared an adapted screenplay nomination for “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” with Eric Roth. Her other credits include “Memoirs of a Geisha,” “Matilda,” “Little Women” and “The Jane Austen Book Club,” which she also directed.
