Twentieth Century Fox Television has inked a three-year overall deal with “Bones” exec producer Stephen Nathan.
Deal calls for Nathan to develop new projects for the studio. For now, however, the scribe’s focus will remain on “Bones” as the durable Fox drama heads into its eighth season.
“He’s a great partner to (“Bones” creator) Hart Hanson,” said 20th TV chairman Dana Walden. “Stephen is a great example of the type of writer we look forward to being in business with.”
Among Nathan’s strengths is his versatility, Walden said.
“He can write in ‘Bones’ where the tone is very difficult…it’s a murder mystery, but with great characters that have levity. He’s able to tell it in a way that makes you laugh,” she said.
Nathan has worked on series ranging from “Everybody Loves Raymond” to “Laverne & Shirley” and “Family Law.” He recently served as a creative consultant on the upcoming feature “The Oranges.” Before “Bones,” Nathan spent two years as an exec producer on “Joan of Arcadia.”
